A review of Hiltonbury Farmhouse by Chandler's Ford local resident written on Sunday 18th of October 2015
Clearly not a lot has changed since the review in 2011. About 5 of us went for a local group meeting to the Hiltonbury Farmhouse in Chandler's Ford at the end of the Easter holidays. We went to the bar to order our drinks only to find they had no beer in stock - no draft on tap, no bottles of any description (not even Newcastle Brown Ale); the closest they had to any ale/dark beer, were cans of Guinness, which we could've got from our local Tesco at a quarter of the price. Lager and Cider were plentiful.but no Beer. When asked if they had any 'out the back' or ready to be put on tap, the only answer we got was, 'oh yea, we run out!' Not really the answer we were looking for and no attempt at an apology. Judging from the amount of people inside, this pub is probably at its lowest and I wouldn't be surprised to see some 'For Sale' boards outside quite soon. Really disappointed. We've used this pub before and it was ok, but not the best. It sits right at the heart of good community and has everything going for it.except that the owners don't really care. Sadly, about 3 weeks later another group from our community went for their meeting and were equally disappointed and vowed never to hold any of their meetings there again either. The owners really need to buck up, else they risk losing this..
